Fire destroys group of three travel trailers near La Center

first_imgA living situation that included three travel trailers and a series of tarps near La Center was destroyed in a fire Thursday night.Crews with Clark County Fire & Rescue were called at about 7:40 p.m. to 2001 N.W. Bolen St., where firefighters found the fire about 300 feet from the street on property that includes a luxurious five-bedroom house.Fire Chief John Nohr said flames were engulfing three travel trailers that were somewhat joined together. A series of tarps tied to trees created a community space of about 1,500 to 2,000 square feet that was full of miscellaneous old items, Nohr said.Though the person who called 911 reported that their travel trailer was on fire, no one was at the scene when firefighters arrived, Nohr said.Firefighters controlled the fire in about 20 minutes, Nohr said. They remained on the scene for more than three hours doing cleanup and putting out hot spots.“The firefighters did a really good job on a very difficult fire situation,” Nohr said. “The access was very hard and the amount of clutter in the area kept them from getting the hose lines in the correct place.”last_img
